Microsoft ActiveMovie Support:

With the Video Crunch It 2000 drivers it is now also possible to playback
AVI files using Microsoft ActiveMovie. The drivers detect automatically
whether ActiveMovie or Video for Windows is used.

Please pay attention to the following:

1) ActiveMovie saves video frames and audio data in a buffer. Please
wait until this is completely done for the first few images (harddisk
no longer displays activity) before you start to playback the clip.

2) For that reason slight video-audio synchrony problems may occur with
'slow' processors and harddisks.

3) Using ActiveMovie is recommended if you want to play AVI files with
sizes exceeding the 'Video for Windows' limit of 1 gigabyte.
ActiveMovie does not have this limitation.

A) Notes and known problems

- Using a Pentium Pro processor may cause a system hangup while playback
AVI files.

- The current release of the Video Crunch It 2000 drivers does not
support an overlay using DirectDraw.

- Video Crunch It 2000 is an active PCI bus master device. Certain
motherboards do not support all PCI slots to be master slots. If placed
into such a slot the Video Crunch It 2000 will not function at all or
even the system will not boot.
If you happen to have this problem, try switching PCI slots. Also check
your motherboards system BIOS for a function to enable / disable PCI
bus mastering.

- If the Recording and Playback of video sequences produces 'dropped
frames', is not continous, or the display quality is badly (Compression
losses) check the settings for the compression / data rate for
recording.
The easiest way to adjust the compression ratios is using the slider
in the Code Volume setup dialog.
Is the playback not continously or if 'dropped frames' occur, reduce
the value.
Increase this value if the playback quality is bad (compression losses).
If you use an older, not so powerful systems or older IDE hard drivers
you probably will not achieve data rates higher than 2 MBytes per
second.
